Spyros Gikontis - violin

Of Corfiot origin, Greece. He began his violin studies with Genc Bogdo and Pirro Gjezi at the age of six. He graduated from the Music Academy of Tirana, Albania (Degree in Performance studies (violin) with Prof. Panteli Gjezi as his violin teacher).

His numerous artistic activities include solo and chamber music performances. His wide repertoire includes works of rarely performed composers, such as Gerasimos Robotis, Y.A. Papaioannou, T.Antoniou, Chin Chin Chen and others, which he presented at international music conferences and festivals in Greece and abroad. He is a member, as a violonist, at the MIB Quintetts, the Ionian Piano Quartet, and the ensemble for early music “Affetti Musicali”. He currently serves as  lecturer, teaching violin and orchestral studies at the Department of Music of the Ionian University in Corfu, Greece.

Spyros Gikontis has been reviewed favorably by international journals and newspapers such as the Strad Magazine; he has an active discography by Amicme Classical International and other Recording Companies.
